Week 26 and start of new unit!

Hello parents of Kindergarten A!

I am very sorry for the delay in updating the blog and seesaw in recent weeks.
Due to the end of unit being a busy time and Ms Nao becoming our new music teachers we had been unable to keep you as updated as we would have liked.

However with the new unit beginning and new measures in place we hope to not have a delay like that again.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

English

We are really focusing at the moment on improving our English abilities, through reading, comprehension, Raz-Kids and writing.

Many members of our class are at different reading levels and we are attempting to have everyone improve at a speed they are comfortable with.

In the following weeks you will probably see more complicated English homework coming home. Should you find that your child is struggling or saying that they do not understand, please let me know. I will make sure to have them working at a level they are more comfortable with to gain confidence before setting some challenges.

Maths

We have begun to review what we remember about time. When we leave our studies we could read the clock and the minutes in five minute blocks. Now, we have introduced how to read the time to the minute. Some members of our class have picked it up quickly but most of us have been struggling a little and will need some additional help.

For homework this week I have sent home a challenge guess the time to the minute worksheet. Should you child have any problems or finds it too frustrating, please let me know.

We will be reviewing it next week as well and we will have plenty of time to find the best way for them to work out the time.

Unit of Inquiry

Last week we finished our studies of ancient civilisations by turning our whole classroom into a museum and inviting different classes to come and view it, ask questions and play with our hand made artefacts.

Everyone had a really great time and we all work really well both individually, in small teams and as a whole class to make sure everything looks and ran well!
(I was extremely proud of all of them)

Many primary classes came to visit, including grades 2, 3 and 4!
We also had Pre-kinder B came by as well!

It was a huge success!

This week in our Unit of Inquiry

We have moved onto our new unit of inquiry called
'How the world works'
We are going to learn how to describe different kinds of materials, how they are used and how different materials can be changed to have different properties or to become more useful!

We are going to be looking at manufacturing, science experiments and most importantly COOKING!

I will be looking to invite any parents or guardians who would like to join us for a cooking lesson, or if you know of a fun quick recipe you would like to teach the class please contact me!

Birthday Party

This month we celebrated the birthdays' of Rian and Naotaka!
