Sports day

Hello Parents of Kindergarten A

I hope you all had a great time at our sports day on Friday!

English

In English we have really been focusing on our reading this week, learning to read together on the smart board, reading with buddies and challenging ourselves to try hard level raz kids books!

Maths

We have started to learn our place values in class, hundreds, tens and ones.

Some of us have understood the idea very quickly and have been helping our fellow classmates to understand the concept! It has been wonderful to see how helpful and caring everyone is to each other.

UoI

This week in class we have been deciding what artifacts we wish to make to show our fellow students. When we are finished we are hoping to create a museum to show our ancient artifacts!

Sports day!

We all had a wonderful time competing in sports day with our classmates and against Kindergarten B. We also enjoyed cheering on the younger classes in their races and dances! We hope you really enjoyed the Kumitaiso performance as the kids worked really hard and were very proud of their performance.

These are a collection of photos taken st sports day for you to enjoy.

Field trip to Big Bang Children's Museum

Hello parents of Kinder A

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!

This week in Kinder A we finished off our study of medieval England, did our review of skip counting, practiced our writing and phonics as well as went to Big Bang Children's Museum!

English

We have been really practicing our reading by reading Raz-kids books both on the board and with reading buddies in class. I have found that for some of our classmates who are a little weaker at reading, practicing with a friend of a higher level is really beneficial.

The more we read the more words we understand and the better we get while unlocking magical worlds to enjoy.

Maths

We have practiced our skip counting, addition and subtraction this week.

Next week we will be introducing place value (1's, 10's and 100's) and using different games and worksheets to reinforce the idea in our heads.

Unit of Inquiry

We finished off our exploration into medieval England this week. We discovered a lot of similarities with medieval Japan as well as other civilizations we have looked into.

On Friday we started our construction of our own castle for future puppet shows. We had three teams headed up by a team leader who made decisions and helped their teammates in constructing, painting and cutting.

We haven't finished it just yet but we will be spending some more time on it next week as well.
