Hello parents of Kindergarten A
I hope you have all had an enjoyable week!
We have been so busy with our field trip to Green Eco Plaza and Japanese Culture Day however we have still made time to review our work with telling time, learning our sight words, our phonics unit of inquiry as well as having plenty of time to have some fun with our friends.
English
This week in our English lessons we have been looking at the sight words -
Jump, Golf, Fact and Melt
I will be sending home some homework writing sheets that cover both the sight words and the phonic blended sounds we have covered this week.
Next week our words will be - Champ, Chest, Theft and Tenth.
We have also been studying the phonic blended sounds SCR and STR and again I have been super impressed with the words that we were all able to come up with for our brain storming sessions!
Maths
We have been continuing our study of telling the time on both analogue and digital clocks. Digital is of course the easier for our friends to be able to tell the time on but I have been very pleased with the progress we have been making on how quickly we can can tell the time on an analogue clock.
- Homework Information -
There is an error on the clock homework for this week, question 7 is missing the hour hand and therefore cannot be completed. Please let your child know that they can skip that question.
Unit of Inquiry
We have been shifting our focus of inquiry from extreme weather, to trees and why they and the environment around us is so important to humans. We listed why trees help humans and we had many suggestions from - they give us wood for buildings to they give us maple syrup (my favorite answer )
We then discussed how trees give us oxygen and how they help us breathe.
Next week we are going to be looking at how humans hurt the local environment and what steps we can take to reduce the damage.
Field Trip
On Thursday we went to the ATC building in Cosmo Square to visit the Green Eco Plaza to learn about what steps we can take to help reduce our impact on the local environment.
We learned the different ways we can recycle, how much energy it take to power a conventional light bulb as apposed to an LED light bulb.
We also got to look at some electric cars and play an interactive game about over fishing.
After our lunch we spent some time by the water next to the ATC building and saw firsthand some pollution and trash that had been dumped into the water and we discussed how it would have been easy to recycle many of the products we saw.
Japanese Culture Day
We had a blast today enjoying Japanese Culture Day.
We got to catch somen, play some Japanese festival games, dress up in traditional clothes and finally share our Tanabata wishes with our classmates!

ReplyDeleteI’ve just logged in to the maths website, if you use iPhone it’s much easier if you go through safari rather than google.
