Week 5

Hello parents of Kindergarten A

I hope you all had an enjoyable week!

English

We have been working really hard this week on all aspects of our English ability. From reading to comprehension to writing and speaking.  I have been really focusing on our penmanship and I am really happy with how we are coming along. In the coming weeks you will see an increase in amount of writing that your children will be doing.

Maths

This week in maths we have been focusing on knowing the next number in a sequence either higher or lower.

We have also been working really hard on our addition.

Unit of Inquiry

We have started on out unit of Inquiry this week and the first environments we have been learning about is the savannah, grasslands and forests.  We all really enjoyed learning about the many different kinds of animals that can be found on the savannah!

We followed through with this into making posters of our own savannah in art class.

Play

We spent this week learning to play a little safer with our friends.

On the way back from the park on Thursday we saw a man changing the light bulbs in the traffic lights so we stopped to watch him work before coming back to school.

We designed a running game in the gym.

We found some boxes in class and have been working hard to turn them into shops and restaurants. Currently we have a hair salon, a takoyaki stall and a bakery.  We are hoping in the future to create a whole small town to play in.

Art

This week me made Savannah posters by cutting out posters and coloured paper to make our own savannah. The kids really loved learning about the different animals and how they interact with each other.

Japanese

In Japanese this week Ms Nao has been teaching us the Japanese words for different animals and insects that can be found all over Japan as well as helping us to improve our speaking and writing.
